Sixth, in explaining the four [aspects of] the path: regarding the statement that three rely on the path of seeing and one relies on the path of cultivation, Master Jing says: 'The path of seeing contains the first three truths, and the path of cultivation contains its truth of the path, because in the path of cultivation one is able to sever the remaining arising, realize cessation, and cultivate the taints of the remaining path; therefore it receives the name "path of cultivation".' Master Da says: 'This text speaks from a single aspect, not exhausting the underlying principle, because the three meanings of knowing, severing, and realizing are all fully obtainable within the path of seeing.'
