今勘第二十八卷云：止品上下想者，謂觀察此身如其所住，如其所願上從頂上下至足下，種種雜類不淨充滿。觀品前後想者，謂如有一於所觀相，慇懃懇到善取善思善了善達，謂住觀於坐坐觀於臥，或在後行觀察前行，如彼廣釋。

Now, checking fascicle twenty-eight, it states: 'The notion of above and below belonging to the category of tranquility' means contemplating this body according to how it abides, according to one's wish, from the top of the crown downward to the bottom of the feet, filled with diverse and assorted impurities. 'The notion of before and after belonging to the category of insight' means that, for instance, with respect to the contemplated sign, one is earnest, sincere, properly grasping, properly reflecting, properly discerning, and properly penetrating—that is, standing and contemplating sitting, sitting and contemplating lying down, or walking behind and observing the walking in front, as explained extensively there.
