前品中現前是眾藥之本，理宜先明，言諍是四中之始，故亦先明；現前擬滅言諍中下二品藥，不覓諍第二；是以次明憶念不癡滅覓諍中下二品藥，犯諍據三；故次第四自言毘尼擬滅犯諍中下二品藥，事諍通用，即以此四擬滅事諍中下二品藥。

"In the previous category, 'presence' is the root of all remedies, and in principle should be explained first; disputes of words are the beginning of the four, and so are also explained first; 'presence' is designated as the intermediate and lower grade remedy to extinguish disputes of words; disputes of censure (anuvādādhikaraṇa) are second; therefore, recollection and non-insanity are explained next to extinguish the intermediate and lower grade remedies of disputes of censure; disputes of offenses (āpattādhikaraṇa) occupy the third; therefore, next, the fourth, the vinaya of self-admission, is designated as the intermediate and lower grade remedy to extinguish disputes of offenses; disputes of affairs (kṛtyādhikaraṇa) are universally applicable, and these four are used as intermediate and lower grade remedies to extinguish disputes of affairs."
