此就前門就餘門者，當知隨應者，四十作意中，第七明勝解作意，謂修靜慮者隨其所欲於諸事相增益作意以為前門。

Regarding 'this is in accordance with the former gate; in accordance with the other gate, it should be understood as appropriate': among the forty mental applications, the seventh explains the mental application of resolute faith, which means that a practitioner of dhyāna superimposes mental application upon affairs and characteristics according to their wish—this is the former gate.
