4.215

謂即於彼彼諸相乃至能作四事等者，景師解云：謂於所緣相因緣相等四相中，作意思惟能作四事，一、即修習如是作意；二、能遠彼所餘煩惱；三、能練此作意及餘令轉明盛；四、厭所緣令煩惱不續。

Regarding "namely, toward those respective characteristics, up to being able to accomplish four tasks": Master Jing explains: toward the four characteristics such as the characteristic of the object and the characteristic of causes and conditions, reflecting with mental application can accomplish four tasks: 1. cultivating such mental application; 2. keeping far from other remaining afflictions; 3. refining this mental application and others to become increasingly brilliant; 4. being revulsed by the object so that afflictions do not continue.
