Among the twenty-seven worthy and noble ones, these seven are the initial general fruits, and the remaining twenty are established based on specific distinctions; hence these seven are stated. Regarding "furthermore, because of three causes and conditions, seven kinds of practices, etc.": entering, abiding, and gathering are called the three causes and conditions. Right view and right thought are called the causes and conditions of initial entering; right speech, right action, and right livelihood are called the causes and conditions of abiding; right effort and right mindfulness are called the causes and conditions of gathering. By virtue of these three causes and the seven path factors, they cause the mind to be inwardly concentrated, with an empty mind properly focused on a single object.
