Regarding "the great power and virtue possessed by the medicine, if the illness is not yet cured, is called 'to be thought of,' and so forth": this efficacy of the medicine must constantly be thought of when the disease is not yet cured; if the illness is cured, it is called "already thought of," because the thinking has already ceased. These two objective spheres of activity—"to be thought of" and "already thought of"—are not the essence of a present object, and the thought that can cognize them is also not direct perception. This also inversely illuminates the earlier statement that the moment it is apprehended it is immediately accomplished, apprehending the foundational object, and the mind that can cognize it is called direct perception.
