In the fourth section, there are four verses. The first verse and a half clarifies the contemplation of specific characteristics. "Kinsman of the Sun" refers to the Buddha; "Gautama" is translated here as "sun-cooker," hence the Buddha is called Kinsman of the Sun. The next half-verse clarifies the contemplation of universal characteristics. The last two verses clarify the contemplation of the two truths: the first three lines concern the contemplation of ultimate truth, and the subsequent five lines concern the contemplation of conventional truth. Because phenomena have no real function, there is no real delusion; because there are no real sentient beings, there is no real deluded one. Therefore, the upper three lines—"Delusion cannot delude, nor can delusion delude that [person]; it is not that another who is not deluded can have delusion or have its delusion"—are called the contemplation of ultimate truth.
