In the fourth section there are four verses. The first one and a half verses elucidate contemplation on specific characteristics. The 'Kinsman of the Sun' is the Buddha. Gautama translates here as 'Sun-baked', hence the Buddha is called the Kinsman of the Sun. The next half verse elucidates contemplation on general characteristics. The last two verses elucidate contemplation on the two truths: the first three lines are contemplation on the ultimate truth, and the latter five lines are contemplation on conventional truth. Because phenomena have no real function, there is no real delusion; because there are no real sentient beings, there is no real deluded one. Therefore, in the upper three lines, delusion is not capable of deluding delusion or the deluded one, nor is there a deluded one capable of having its delusion; this is called contemplation on the ultimate truth. In conventional truth, delusion is not non-existent, nor does it arise from one who is not deluded; thus it can be said that there is delusion and there is a deluded one.
