'Five kinds of evil views' refers to the five sharp defilements. In the verse on not receiving offerings given out of faith, not being addicted to material gain and veneration is the general import. 'Not holding evil views' is the second line; 'not receiving offerings in vain' is the first line; 'not slandering the true Dharma' is the lower half of the verse. The text below is also general. Or, 'fearing the boils of injury': stubbornly holding evil views, receiving offerings given out of faith in vain, slandering the true Dharma, craving the desires of future lives, and the causes for generating evil views—these five are called 'boils,' because they are produced by the causes of receiving offerings given out of faith and being addicted to gain and veneration.
