習近順定諸臥具者，謂邊際臥具，諸臥具中最極鄙劣下極邊際，因此後能順生寂定，非沈掉等下兩句，如次釋堅精進及勇猛斷二惡修二善故。

'Resorting to bedding and seats conducive to absorption' refers to remote bedding and seats, the most extremely wretched and lowest extremities among all bedding and seats, through which one can subsequently conform to and generate quietude and absorption. The lower two lines, 'neither depressed nor agitated, etc.,' explain in order steadfast vigor and valiant vigor, because of severing the two evils and cultivating the two goods.
