5.54

聞所成地上之九地辨三乘境。自下六地辨三乘行：初、三通行，三乘皆能修三惠故；後、三別行，應機隨法成自乘故。又初三是方便行，後三根本行。又初三所學行，後三所成行。

The stage arisen from hearing: The preceding nine stages distinguish the objects of the three vehicles. The following six stages distinguish the practices of the three vehicles: the first three are common practices, because all three vehicles are able to cultivate the three wisdoms; the latter three are distinct practices, because according to their capacities and in accordance with the Dharma they accomplish their own vehicles. Furthermore, the first three are practices of provisional means, while the latter three are fundamental practices. Furthermore, the first three are practices to be trained in, while the latter three are practices to be accomplished.
