5.73

方便者，謂四種變化，一、現菩薩行變化化根未熟者；二、現如來變化化根已熟者；三、現攝聲聞變化；四、現調伏獨覺變化。

Expedient means: namely, the four kinds of manifestations: (1) manifesting bodhisattva practice to transform those whose faculties are not yet mature; (2) manifesting a Tathāgata to transform those whose faculties are already mature; (3) manifesting the gathering of śrāvakas; (4) manifesting the taming of pratyekabuddhas.
