In the fifth section explaining eating, drinking, chewing, and tasting: Why are items such as cakes [called] 'chewing' and milk and the like [called] 'tasting'? What cannot be masticated is called 'tasting', and what can be masticated is called 'chewing'. Because cakes and the like are solid food that cannot be sipped or slurped, they are called 'chewing'; what can be sipped or slurped is called 'tasting'. Or, speaking broadly, chewing and tasting are without difference.
