Now, in this Yogācāra explanation of the nineteen perceptions, the perception of danger is further added to make twenty; the differences in splitting and combining reflect the differing intention of the treatise master. 2. Realizing the eight meditative attainments. 3. Realizing the four immeasurables. 4. Realizing the three fruits. 5. Realizing the five superknowledges. The fourth fruit and the superknowledge of exhaustion of taints are not mentioned because they are accomplished in [the state of] 'or an arhat', and thus are not stated beforehand for now. 6. Realizing the eight liberations. 7. Realizing the three miracles: 1. The miracle of psychic power is the wheel of supernormal powers, transforming in various ways to cause others to submit. 2. The miracle of mind-reading is the wheel of discerning minds; this is the superknowledge of others' minds, reading others' wholesome and unwholesome thoughts to cause them to have faith. 3. The miracle of instruction is the wheel of teaching the Dharma; this is the superknowledge of exhaustion of taints, declaring one's own exhaustion of taints to instruct sentient beings and cause them to realize the exhaustion of taints. They are also called manifestations of the three karmas: first, manifesting the inconceivable matters of psychic power to turn the crooked into the straight; second, manifesting the thoughts in others' minds to cultivate the wholesome and recognize spiritual capacity; third, manifesting one's own exhaustion of taints, eliminating obstacles and attaining nirvāṇa, enabling them to awaken and enter right on the spot without moving from their seats.
