Regarding 'truly knowing the individual and common characteristics of the imputed aggregates to sever the inversion of a self': fully knowing that the aggregates are solely the nature of dharmas, each distinct and completely devoid of a self, is called knowing the individual characteristics; fully knowing that the aggregates are alike in being devoid of a self is called knowing the common characteristics; thus the inversion of a self is eliminated. If explained in detail, the four such as the body each possess four. The Dazhidulun says: Although the four dharmas each possess four kinds, for the body one should mostly contemplate impurity; for feelings, mostly contemplate suffering; for the mind, mostly contemplate impermanence; and for dharmas, mostly contemplate selflessness.
