由四念住增上力故乃至及與正定者，基云：此中意由四念住為因，生定心俱時九種念。九種念即與安住念等，與定九種同俱，以九種皆是定為助伴。亦九種以正者，為能攝助伴者，為所攝。

Regarding the passage from 'due to the predominant power of the four applications of mindfulness' up to 'and right concentration': Ji says: The meaning here is that with the four applications of mindfulness as a cause, nine kinds of mindfulness concurrent with the concentrated mind are produced. The nine kinds of mindfulness are concurrent with abiding mindfulness and the like, and occur together with the nine kinds of concentration, because all nine kinds serve as companions to concentration. Also, with the nine kinds, the right ones are what subsumes, and the companions are what is subsumed.
