煩惱障者，即是上品猛利長時數起，於現法中淨行所緣不淨觀等不能令淨，名煩惱障。

Regarding the obstacle of afflictions: this refers to upper-grade, fierce, prolonged, frequently arising [afflictions], which in the present life cannot be purified by the focal objects of purifying practice such as the contemplation of impurity; this is called the obstacle of afflictions.
