若依護月立有本有法爾無漏種子為姓種姓，後對十信聞法發心，從現行心資發本種令其增勝，即名習種姓。據本有義邊，名姓種姓，由修增長名習種姓，明於後時更不新熏成種，於舊種一體義說地前即有二種種姓。

According to Candramati, he establishes that naturally existent (dharmatā) taintless seeds from the beginning constitute the natural gotra. Later, in relation to the ten stages of faith, hearing the Dharma and resolving the mind, the active mind stimulates the original seeds, causing them to increase and excel, which is then called the cultivated gotra. In terms of original existence, it is called the natural gotra; by virtue of cultivation and increase, it is called the cultivated gotra. He explains that at a later time no newly perfumed seeds are formed; it is with respect to the single substance of the old seeds that one speaks of having the two kinds of gotras prior to the stages.
