二、得名，舊名性種姓，今名本性住種姓；舊名習種姓，今名習所成種姓。此中通名二種種姓者，從數就義為名，別名性習者，性種當體得名，習種姓從方便得名。

Second, the derivation of names. In the old translation it was called gotra by nature; now it is called the gotra abiding in original nature. In the old translation it was called the cultivated gotra; now it is called the gotra formed by cultivation. Here, their general designation as 'two kinds of gotras' is named in terms of number based on meaning; their specific designations as 'natural' and 'cultivated' mean that the natural gotra derives its name from its intrinsic essence, while the cultivated gotra derives its name from skillful means.
