若無種姓雖有一切一切種當知決定不證菩提者，景云：謂定性二乘及無三乘種姓之人假設雖有初緣值一切佛；二、雖聞法修習一切無顛倒行；三、一切勤修方便而無慢緩，以無種姓必定不證初地菩提，若飜此四，應云：第一、值一切佛聞法發心；二、由發心無倒修學；三、勇猛精進；四、善根成就資糧圓滿必入初地。

Regarding 'If one is without gotra, even though possessing all in every way, it should be known that one determinately will not realize bodhi': Jing says: This refers to persons of determinate gotra in the two vehicles and persons lacking the gotra of the three vehicles; even supposing that they have the initial condition of encountering all Buddhas; second, though hearing the Dharma they practice all non-erroneous practices; and third, they diligently cultivate skillful means in every way without laxity; because they lack the gotra, they will determinately not realize the bodhi of the first bhūmi. If one reverses these four, it should be said: first, encountering all Buddhas, hearing the Dharma, and arousing the mind; second, practicing without error due to arousing the mind; third, being vigorously energetic; fourth, the roots of goodness being accomplished and the provisions complete, one will certainly enter the first bhūmi.
