Ji says: 'All' has three kinds: the first 'all' refers to the Buddhas; the second 'all' refers to practices of training; the third 'all' refers to the three periods of time. The statement means that even if a person without gotra has Buddhas and practices of training, throughout the three periods of time they determinately will not realize bodhi. Another interpretation states: the first 'all' refers to the Buddhas; the second 'all' refers to having no erroneous clinging regarding the dharmas trained in; the third 'all' refers to swiftness in skillful means. Reversing the previous three causes and conditions, merely omitting the unripeness of faculties, those without gotra can also encounter Buddhas, practice the training, swiftly make vows, and so forth; but lacking the fourth, the ripening of faculties, it should be known that they determinately will not realize bodhi.
