The ten secondary afflictions are precisely the ten items below containing the character 'much' (duo). If relying on the old treatise, the fourth is called 'bitter distress' and the fifth is called 'defiled conduct'; the other eight names do not differ between the new and old. Among them, the first is ignorance, the fourth is feeling, and as for the fifth, Jing says: It is merely incapacity and an untamed nature. Ce says: According to the context of this Yogācārabhūmi, it mostly takes the seeds of affliction as its substance; or perhaps all the aforementioned afflictions have the meaning of an unserviceable nature, which is coarseness. The seventh is bad karma; the remaining six are afflictions. The other nine root afflictions and the remaining secondary afflictions are all subsumed within 'having many afflictions'.
