8.492

何以故下，重釋與奪之義。是故菩薩於諸眾生若樂利益，當知義意即樂安樂者，樂是樂欲，樂欲與他利益，即帶樂欲與他安樂，此是與他利樂前方便心。

From “Why is this?” downward, the text re-explains the meaning of giving and stripping away. Regarding “Therefore, if a bodhisattva takes pleasure in benefit toward sentient beings, one should know that the intended meaning is taking pleasure in peace and happiness”: “pleasure” is desire; desiring to give benefit to others inherently brings the desire to give peace and happiness to others. This is the preliminary mind prior to bestowing benefit and happiness on others.
