初復次中，景云：言若於諸法諸事隨起言說即於彼法彼事有自性者，此牒立也，小乘人立名能召法，故隨言說有法體。

In the first argument, Jing says: The phrase "If, according to how speech arises with respect to phenomena and things, there is an intrinsic nature in those phenomena and things" restates their thesis. The Hīnayāna adherents posit that a name can summon a phenomenon, and therefore the entity of a phenomenon exists in accordance with speech.
