Tai says: Conceptualisation of 'I' and 'mine' arises only in ordinary persons, because it arises taking one's own and others' tainted aggregates as objects. Upon all the various tainted aggregates, due to long habituation from beginningless time, one readily gives rise to the conceptualisation of 'I' and 'mine', without yet determinately grasping them as 'I' and 'mine'. After this conceptualisation, one then gives rise to the view of self that determinately grasps them; after the view of self, conceit then arises. Furthermore, because the deliberating, conceptualising mind sees agreeable, disagreeable, and neutral objects, after this conceptualising mind, greed, anger, and delusion arise.
