Regarding the earlier statement, "having realized the real, one manifests majestic power": this refers to the six supernormal powers and so forth. Having manifested the six supernormal powers, what does one intend to accomplish? It does not exceed two intentions: one is the intention to mature sentient beings to benefit others; the second is the intention to mature the Buddha-dharma for one's own benefit. Although the Buddha possesses both virtues of self-benefit and benefiting others, the realm of sentient beings is inexhaustible, so one must employ these two intentions. Therefore, after the Chapter on Majestic Power, the Chapter on Maturation is briefly clarified. That is the fourth of the five chapters, and the fifth and sixth among the seven dharmas. The text has three parts: first, setting forth the six gates; second, distinguishing them according to the gates; third, explaining them again following difficult points.
