The Tripiṭaka Master says: To say that the path of seeing relies on the six stages and universally includes the intermediate [dhyāna] is incorrect. Only among the six clear observations do three rely on five, generated excluding the intermediate dhyāna. Although texts elsewhere say there is uncontaminated [dharma], yet because the dwelling of the Brahmā king is largely distracted, just as with the peak of existence, although there is uncontaminated [dharma], it does not accomplish the severance of afflictions, as is widely distinguished elsewhere. However, regarding these precepts concurrent with concentration and the path, the Tripiṭaka Master says: They are established upon the active volition concurrent with the path of seeing, because they are called form that conforms to the mind.
