Regarding the "seven golden mountains": 1. Yugaṃdhara: here translated as "Holding the Yoke," because the mountain peak has two ridges. 2. Vinātaka: here translated as "Obstacle," because there are deities dwelling within it who obstruct wholesome dharmas. This corresponds to the sixth mountain in the Kośa, Vinataka. "Ta" and "ṭa" are similar, differing only in vocal pronunciation. 3. Aśvakarṇa: here translated as "Horse's Ear," because it resembles a horse's ear. This corresponds to their fifth mountain. 4. Sudarśana: "su" has the meaning of good or beautiful; "darśana" has the meaning of seeing. That is, the Mountain of Good Vision; because seeing the shape of that mountain, many wholesome [states] arise. Its sequence is the same as theirs. 5. Khadiraka: here translated as "Carrying Pole Wood"; the asuras carry Mount Sumeru with this wood. The mountain possesses carrying pole wood, and is thus named after it. This corresponds to their third. 6. Īṣādhara: here translated as "Holding the Axle," because the mountain peak resembles an axle. This corresponds to their second. 7. Nimimdhara: the name of a fish in the ocean; this is left untranslated; the mountain peak resembles it, and so it is named after it. This differs in sequence from the Kośa. However, the schools differ while the names are the same, so there is no need to harmonize them. The treatise says that each is named according to differences in shape, which is based on the majority, because the second mountain is named after a deity.
