Deliberating on the object of cognition extends to both defiled and undefiled, having supreme prajñā as its essence; or it may extend to the four distortions, having wrong views and so forth as its essence. Intoxication has four conditions: "Inferior by nature" means the constitution is weak and frail; "unaccustomed" means one's disposition does not drink; the remaining two are understandable. Mostly it has torpor, restlessness, heedlessness, forgetfulness, distraction, attachment, anger, and so forth as its essence, or it takes the concomitant mind and mental factors as its nature. One opinion holds: It extends to the five consciousnesses, but is spoken of specifically because mental consciousness is predominant.
