The treatise says: "If an individual lacking the lineage, even if they possess all, in all, and of all kinds, you should know that they definitely do not realize bodhi." The tradition says: There are three kinds of "all": the first "all" refers to the Buddha; the second "all" refers to practices of training; the third "all" refers to the three times. It means that although a person lacking the lineage possesses the Buddha and the practices of training, throughout the three times they definitely will not realize bodhi. Another interpretation: The first "all" refers to the Buddha; the second "all" refers to having no inverted grasping toward the practices of training; the third "all" refers to skillful means being swift. Reversing the previous three conditions, only omitting those whose faculties are not mature and those lacking the lineage, they may also encounter the Buddha and practice the trainings, swiftly arouse vows, and so forth; but lacking the fourth—ripened faculties—one should know that they definitely do not realize bodhi.
