11.147

論一切利行復由三門：第一、於現法利勸導利行中，「謂以法業德招集守護」等者，法，謂如法，不以邪命而得財；業，謂商主等業而得財；德，謂道德，有德故得財，他供養者是。

The treatise [explains that] all beneficial practice is furthermore threefold: first, in beneficial practice that exhorts and guides toward benefit in the present life, 'meaning gathering and guarding through Dharma, livelihood, and virtue', and so forth: 'Dharma' means in accordance with Dharma, not acquiring wealth through wrong livelihood; 'livelihood' means acquiring wealth through the work of a merchant master and so forth; 'virtue' means moral virtue, acquiring wealth because one has virtue, which is being offered to by others.
