Where the treatise explains that purity has ten types, among the five external types: first, stating 'prior evil conduct', this refers to having evil as the foremost and mostly engaging in evil, or first creating evil and then creating good, or creating evil from former times onwards. / Second, 'non-diverting beneficial practice' means not diverting the Buddha's Dharma to enter into perversion, not that one does not untie perversion and draw near to the path. If it were so, it would contradict the meaning of this text. / Fifth, 'furthermore, bodhisattvas toward sentient beings, if in the category of all wholesome dharmas of their own benefit', and so forth: the meaning here is that if there are sentient beings who can be exhorted and guided in the three grades of wholesome fruit-phenomena of their own vehicle's Dharma, one exhorts and guides them; if they have entered their own vehicle, one exhorts and guides them in the subsequent dharmas.
