Because the treatise says 'the superior practice of advancing on the path.' This superior practice of advancing on the path engages in practices with signs and takes differentiated phenomenal signs as its object; hence it is called worldly. Because it is not entangled by afflictions and karma, it is therefore called unshared, since its substance is uncontaminated; because it has signs, it is also called shared. Because ordinary sentient beings are unable to practice what is uncontaminated, it is called unshared; because it takes phenomenal signs as its object, it is called shared with the worldly. As it acts as the preparatory cultivation of expedients for the subsequent bhūmi, serving as the advance on the path for the subsequent bhūmi, it is called the superior practice of advancing on the path.
