The treatise says: "Regarding the phrases of mantras taught by the Buddha for attaining bodhisattva patience, one is able to contemplate them carefully. The words of the mantra are..." and so on: this means this mantra has no meaning, but only names. Bodhisattvas prior to the bhūmis recite this meaningless mantra wishing to eliminate conceptual grasping: this is only a name, so where is there any meaning? Thus one knows that all dharmas have only falsely conceptualized names and no truly grasped meaning; therefore, one cannot give rise to grasping based on names. Because of this contemplation, one is immediately able to enter true contemplation and realize bodhisattva patience.
