Where the treatise states, "Furthermore, the impure aspiration of bodhisattvas is called the aspiration to be subdued, because through this aspiration one should deliberate. Furthermore, the pure aspiration and exceedingly pure aspiration of bodhisattvas are called innate aspirations," and so forth: before the bhūmis, one has not yet realized phenomena (dharma), but merely manifests supernormal powers and the like to subdue them; from entering the bhūmis onward, one personally realizes True Suchness (tathatā), and having cultivated it for many kalpas, supernormal powers arise innately together with the body. Pure and exceedingly pure aspirations are innate aspirations, because the nature of pure aspiration is established as exceedingly pure.
