13.28

論云「解作二緣性中云又由有阿賴耶故，得有末那」等者，謂由第八為境故，得起第七見分；又由第八中種子故，第七得起。具此二義，故作此說。

The treatise says, "In explaining the formation of the two kinds of pratyayatā, it states: 'Furthermore, because the ālaya exists, manas can exist...'" This means that because the eighth serves as the object, the darśanabhāga of the seventh can arise; and furthermore, because of the seeds within the eighth, the seventh can arise. Possessing these two meanings, this statement was made.
