The treatise says: "Wholesome dharmas have six bases, namely determination..." and below; this is explained in the verses below under the third category, "association." Furthermore, in the third fascicle of the first division, are these wholesomes not all-inclusive? Again, in fascicle sixty below it states that they arise regarding ten objects; checking this against that text shows differences, which will be reconciled when reaching that text. If one is in an unconcentrated plane, when a wholesome mind arises, it must arise together with ten [mental factors]; if in a concentrated plane, it must arise with eleven, because pliancy arises only in a concentrated plane. Does this not conflict with this [passage]? Some say: fundamentally, at all times in an unconcentrated plane, the arising of a wholesome mind definitely has ten; if in concentration, having eleven is correct. These bases and the like are named on the basis of their predominant states, not that the others are absent, so there is no contradiction.
