成辨中，「又愛為先，由食住」者，此意說言，由過去愛為先，現在身為建立等，假有情安住也。作用中，「自種子為先，如此生為建立」等者，《顯揚》十八云：即彼前生為建立，前生緣和合，意顯生性及與生緣皆先業故，名之為先，與此無違。

In "accomplishment," regarding "furthermore, having craving as antecedent, abiding by means of food," this intention states that, taking past craving as antecedent and the present body as the establishment, nominal sentient beings abide. In "function," regarding "taking its own seed as antecedent, and birth such as this as the establishment," etc., fascicle eighteen of the *Prakaraṇāryavācā* states: taking that very prior birth as the establishment and the conditions of prior birth as concord; the intention reveals that both the nature of birth and the conditions of birth are due to prior karma, and are thus called the antecedent, which does not conflict with this.
