In the second section, refuting atoms (paramāṇu), there are five [arguments]. In the first objection, regarding "If it has already been investigated, it contradicts the pramāṇas": because it is unobtainable by both direct perception (pratyakṣa) and inference (anumāna), just like a hare's horn, it is definitely not real. Although that school posits that it is obtained by direct perception, this school states that apart from empty-eon distant form, there are only coarse forms from aņu onwards that can be obtained by direct perception, not atoms. Although the Hīnayāna says that the wheel-turning king and the divine eye both obtain it by direct perception, it is not accepted by us, being a fictitious construction.
