二十三、謂依上地支，離下地支，此但一分支。彼云：上地行支能伏下地，即麁、苦等六種行相，有求上生而起彼故。唯上地初起，非餘，亦非行全，故言一分。

23. 'Relying on constituents of higher bhūmis to abandon constituents of lower bhūmis' refers to merely a portion of a constituent. That [text] says: the formation-constituent of higher bhūmis is capable of subduing lower bhūmis, namely the six aspectual modes of coarseness, suffering, and so forth, because there are those who, seeking rebirth in higher realms, arouse them. It is solely the initial arising in a higher bhūmi, not the rest, nor is it the entirety of formations; hence it is said to be 'a portion'.
