「若界頌」者，謂字體三百頌，名界；波膩尼仙所造聲明一千頌，名《略本頌》，即此頌也。「等」者，謂八百頌《八界論字因緣》，并千五百頌《聞釋迦論》，及二千五百頌《溫那他論》，故名為等。

Regarding "or dhātu-kārikā": the three hundred verses on the forms of letters are called "dhātu"; the one thousand verses of grammar composed by the ṛṣi Pāṇini are called the "Abridged Root Verses," which refers to these verses. "And so forth" refers to the eight hundred verses of the *Aṣṭadhātu-śāstra on Letter Etymology*, together with the one thousand five hundred verses of the *Śākaṭāyana-śāstra*, and the two thousand five hundred verses of the *Uṇādi-śāstra*; hence it says "and so forth".
