第五、工業明處中，「生成工業」者，謂養六畜成資生故，或教生修成禮儀。　「防那工業」者，謂織繡等，西方男作，故存本音，名為防那，男聲呼之。　「和合工業」者，即賈人、說容，如蘇秦之類，眾和匝人也。　「成熟工業」者，謂成熟飲食。

In the fifth category, the Arts and Crafts (śilpakarmasthāna-vidyā), "crafts of production and rearing" refers to raising the six kinds of domestic animals to supply the means of living, or educating people to cultivate and fulfill proper etiquette. "Crafts of weaving (vāṇa)" refers to weaving, embroidering, and the like; in the Western Regions, men perform this work, so the original phonetic sound is retained and it is called vāṇa, pronounced in the masculine gender. "Crafts of negotiation and mediation" refers to merchants and persuaders, such as Su Qin and his sort, who bring harmony and agreement among people. "Crafts of culinary preparation" refers to cooking and preparing food and drink.
