From 'with respect to such distinct bases...' onward, it clarifies the explanation of the eight bases based on the six aspects. 'I depend on the eyes and so forth' is the first aspect. 'I with respect to the objects of form and so forth' is the second aspect; reckoning consciousness as the self is called the distinction of the intrinsic nature of the base, and it should be stated one by one as running through faculties, objects, and so forth. 'By means of contact and feeling' is the third aspect, explaining the bases of contact and feeling based on a single aspect. 'Having such names... up to giving rise to conventional designations' is the fourth aspect. 'Engaging in all lawful and unlawful conduct' is the fifth aspect. 'With respect to desirable bases... up to not abiding and decreasing' is the sixth aspect: in the case of undesirable bases, before obtaining them one hopes not to meet them; if one meets them, one hopes they will not abide; if they abide, one hopes they will decrease.
