能障中，「當知總說一門十二，一門十四」者，談二別障，初五後七，名為十二；總別合論，更加二總，謂思擇障及修習障，故成十四。

Among the obstacles, as for "one should know that in summary one approach speaks of twelve, and one approach speaks of fourteen": discussing the two distinct sets of obstacles, the first five and the subsequent seven are called twelve; treating the general and distinct together, two general ones are added—namely, the obstacle to deliberation and the obstacle to cultivation—thus making fourteen.
