第二段頌中，第一句是道諦與滅諦為跡，第三句由道諦證滅諦，第二句集諦為苦諦因跡，第四句由有集諦常受苦諦。　「若善修習此無縱逸」等者，謂修道諦諸有學者，於過去世已死之時，未習道故，可由不調善死；現在、未來由習道故，不由不調善死。諸阿羅漢未來無死，亦名不由調善及不調善死。縱逸翻此。

In the second section of verses: the first line is that the truth of the path serves as the track to the truth of cessation; the third line is that by means of the truth of the path one realizes the truth of cessation; the second line is that the truth of origination serves as the causal track to the truth of suffering; the fourth line is that due to having the truth of origination, one constantly experiences the truth of suffering. "If one skillfully cultivates this absence of heedlessness" and so forth: this means that when those in training who cultivate the truth of the path died in past lifetimes, because they had not yet practiced the path, they could die through being untamed; in the present and future, because they practice the path, they do not die through being untamed. For arhats, because there is no death in the future, it is also said that they do not die through being tamed or untamed. Heedlessness is the opposite of this.
