論解最初清淨中云「由十因緣，戒善清淨，如前應知」者，如二十八云由十法順彼法：一者、離母邑等，如前說。其活道沙門，以道活命，名活道也。

In explaining the initial purification, the treatise says: "Due to ten causes and conditions, moral discipline is good and purified, as should be known as before." As [Fascicle] Twenty-Eight states, it is due to ten dharmas that accord with that dharma: the first is staying away from women and so forth, as explained before. A śramaṇa who lives by the path sustains their life by means of the path, hence called 'one who lives by the path.'
