8.18

論解戒律儀中，「今此義中，唯依苾芻律儀，說善能防護」等者，何故不說苾芻尼等也？以不能入聖道故。多分成熟具戒法者，苾芻有故，餘則不然，是以不說。

Where the treatise explains the discipline of morality: "Now in this meaning, relying solely on the bhikṣu discipline, it speaks of being well able to guard..." and so forth: Why does it not mention bhikṣuṇīs and the like? Because they cannot enter the noble path. For the most part, those who mature and possess the complete precepts are bhikṣus, whereas others are not so; therefore they are not mentioned.
