This is the third samgrahaṇī. The initial verse of one line contains two general meanings: first, listing the three general gates; second, expanding the third gate into five. Now this verse of four lines has twenty characters: the upper eight characters list the three general gates, and the lower twelve characters expand them into five. "Going to celebrate and inquire" is the first, "seeking" is the second, and "then establishing" is the third. Within establishing, it says there are further five gates: "guarding and nurturing" is the first, "renunciation" is the second, "nature of the cognitive object" is the third, "purification of obstacles" is the fourth, and "cultivating attention" is the fifth. Within the prose below, it is divided into three: first, from "if there are those who care for themselves" below, up to the end of "explaining the four places," it is called going to celebrate and inquire. Second, from "after having thus correctly minded the specific teacher's place" below, it clarifies the second, seeking; from "when about to request and inquire" below, it clarifies the ritual procedure of requesting and inquiring. From "having thus requested, one who thoroughly understands yoga" below, it clarifies the third, establishing. About to clarify establishing, it first clarifies the teacher's ritual procedure for establishing the disciple; from "all yogācāras" below, it clarifies the ritual procedure of establishing.
