Regarding "Like fire in the world, although it is that which burns, it also attains [the status of] being able to burn" and so forth: a person is the burner, and fire is the entity capable of burning that is grasped; apart from the person, fire can naturally burn things on its own. Therefore, when seeing and so forth see objects, since they themselves are capable of seeing, what need is there for a self? The two formal inferences (anumāna) for this can be understood upon reflection.
